The National Institute of Biodiversity (INBio)
The Bioprospection Unit has collaboration agreements aimed at developing
new commercial interest products. Through an agreement, INBio provides
research services and provides financing for the technological infrastructure.
The research budget includes a donation by the Ministry of Energy
and the Environment (MINAE), which helps pay for the direct costs
involved in the preservation of the biodiversity of the country.
In December 2004, Lisan gave the National Conservation Areas System (SINAC) of the Ministry of the Environment, and the National Biodiversity Institute the first royalties generated by the sales of the Q-assia product.
