Bougainvillea S.A is a Costa Rican equity micro-enterprise, founded in 1984 in San José, Costa Rica. Its president is Engineer Rafael Angel Ocampo.
Located in Matina, Limon province, the second poorest county in Costa Rica, the company counts with forests and agro-ecological crop areas totaling 54 hectares. Fifty percent of this area is dedicated to the conservation of the biodiversity. In the past, these areas were dedicated to subsistence agriculture activities The region is part of the very humid tropic forest with an altitude of 100-150 meters above sea level.
The main focus of the company is promoting research and development actions looking for productive alternatives based on the useful diversity that contributes to conservation and development..

GEMA, Woman’s Ecological Group of Abanico


GEMA is a producer’s association of medicinal plants located in the zone of the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica.
Having been established in 1994, GEMA has benefited from institutional help by the National Production Center (CNP) of Costa Rica, the National University and the University of Costa Rica.
Currently, the group counts with established crops of medicinal plants of popular use in the country.
